Chinook Health

The Chinook Health Region is a progressive health care organization which is committed to providing high quality acute hospital care, community health services and continuing care for a population of more than 150,000 residents of southwestern Alberta.

The Region’s team of more than 3300 employees and 200 physicians provide care and services in 11 acute and continuing care facilities and 15 community health sites. This is complemented by the contributions of over 2000 volunteers.

Palliser Health

The Palliser Health Region is one of nine health regions in the province. Within its geographic boundaries are five communities with health facilities, which include Bassano, Bow Island, Brooks, Medicine Hat, and Oyen.

Palliser is a region rich with culture and built on tradition. It is a Region blessed with economic diversity, including the oil and gas industry, agriculture, manufacturing, industry and tourism. As a result, this Region continues to grow significantly, 2.2% annual growth, as compared to the provincial average of 1.7%. The Region is responsible for the health services for approximately 98,074 residents (March 2004) and a catchment area of approximately 110,000.

David Thompson Health

Delivery of health services involves physicians, nurses and support staff at hospitals, health centres and care centres as well as in the community. Volunteers, lodge and medical clinic staff, partners, municipalities and the public all play a vital role. Third largest health region by population, the DTHR serves nearly 300,000 residents, covers 60 thousand sq. km of territory and employs over 8,000 staff. There are over 350 practicing physicians in the region.

Alberta Cancer Services

The Alberta Cancer Board is mandated by the government of Alberta under the Cancer Programs Act to coordinate all cancer research, prevention and treatment programs in the province of Alberta. Its services include cancer prevention and screening, patient and professional education, diagnosis and treatment, and basic and applied research. It is able to integrate research efforts with clinical practice, ensuring that Albertans benefit from the latest scientific advances in cancer treatment.
